About us
What is the GRUPO TERCER SECTOR (THIRD SECTOR GROUP)?
The Grupo Tercer Sector (GTS), one of the programs promoted
by Del Viso Foundation, has become a leading third sector publication
specialized in social information within the country and one
of the most remarkable in its type in Latin America.
It emerged along with Tercer Sector Journal in 1994 as the
first Argentine publication fully devoted to the work of social
organizations. Its growth and consolidation contributed to
strengthen a little explored space in those days and gave birth
to other communication enterprises centered on civil society
information.
Presently, the GTS is dedicated to producing and spreading
the news which reflect the work of such organizations both
in this country and in the region. Apart from the printed version,
the information about Tercer Sector is available on the web:
www.tercersector.org.ar
Besides, the GTS provides journalistic contents of the Risolidaria
website in Argentina and participates in the section Tercer
Sector de la Agencia Universitaria de Noticias y Opinión
(University News and Opinion Agency). What is more, it offers
counseling and training services to different institutions.

Our history
In 1994, the journalist Marcos Cytrynblum in collaboration
with the specialist Andrés Thompson created the Tercer
Sector Journal with the idea of developing a social media space
for the third sector.
While the process of creation of the Del Viso Foundation was
taking shape in the late 1980´s, Cytrynblum became aware
of the need for creating a new space in order to spread widely
civic society information.
Thus, the Tercer Sector Journal emerged as a professional
product focused on broadcasting the activities of social organizations,
but it also pursues the objective of helping the social sector
to forge its own identity.
Shortly after conceiving the idea, the proposal aroused the
interest of international institutions specialized in the subject
which decided to support the project. That was the case of
US Kellogg Foundation: till 1999 it provided a major financial
support to Tercer Sector. Since then, the journal has become
a self-sustainable program. Over these years of steady growth,
the project succeeded in gaining a position as a communication
conglomerate with a focus on social sector information. In
addition, it encouraged the national mass media to give a widespread
coverage of the topics, to such an extent that today main Argentine
papers have special sections with social issues.

DEL VISO FOUNDATION
This is a community-based organization deeply rooted within
the most underpriviledged communities of Del Viso, in the Province
of Buenos Aires. It was born in the late eighties amid a violent
economic crisis which threw thousands of families into poverty.
With the unswerving purpose of working together with the people
living in this area, it develops social and educational programs
destined to improve the quality of life of the community.
